2017 Honda Pilot Review

The 2017 Honda Pilot is yet another installment in the popular SUV series, praised for its design and performance. Boasting interesting and visually appealing design features, as well as a classy interior, this SUV is ready to take on anything that the competition might throw at it. Let us see how it fares in individual categories.

2017 Honda Pilot Exterior

The biggest change regarding the 2017 Honda Pilot and its exterior is the sudden change in platform. This new platform has been described as ‘revolutionary’ and will most likely enable superior performance and a better engine down the road. Another major downside of the previous Honda Pilots has been the apparent lack of legroom in the third row, especially for adult passengers. Then again, the third row was designed for children and easy folding in case the driver needs some extra cargo space.

Still, this is not something that Honda wanted looming over their heads and have factored it in when designing this new platform. The overall design features an updated grille with new lights and looks more like the rest of Honda’s lineup, especially the CR-V. The 20″ wheels and a panoramic roof are a nice addition, too. All in all, the new Honda Pilot is more muscular and less boxy and this is definitely an improvement.

Honda Pilot Interior

On the inside, the new 2017 Honda Pilot will involve some serious increase in cabin space as mentioned previously. Specifically, the largest change is in the space between the second and third row of seats. The dashboard is as practical as we would expect from a Honda, with a no-nonsense approach to command layout.

The infotainment system and its 8″ touchscreen integrate well with the optional navigation, although the connectivity is still at the top of the list of priorities, after safety and comfort, of course. Wi-Fi, USB, and Bluetooth options will make sure your mobile device is never out of touch with your vehicle, at least when you are nearby. The materials are softer and more pleasant to the eye, almost as much as the heated steering wheel is pleasant to your hands.

Engine

In the engine department, we are most likely looking at a 3.5 L V-6 unit. The most likely output is 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is either a 6-speed automatic or a CVT, and only the front wheel drive has been confirmed at this point. Finally, the fuel efficiency is as strong as ever, boasting 18 miles on a gallon in the city and 25 on the highway, which is pretty good, even by Honda’s standards.
