2016 Lexus LX Review

The new 2016 Lexus LX has been officially presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The model itself will feature an amazing facelift, but the improvements don’t stop there. The new model will have a new 8-speed automatic transmission system and safety and infotainment equipment bundled up in the standard package. It will be little longer and wider, as well. The new LX will be a real head-turner as it is really hard to stay indifferent when this model is concerned.

2016 Lexus LX Engine and Performance

The heart of the new Lexus LX is a powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine, which is capable of producing around 383 horsepower, with a total output of 403 pound-feet of torque. Performance wise, the acceleration is pretty good, regardless of the car’s size and weight, but not as good as the rest of the competition. In fact, the new LX may have the worst acceleration, compared to its main rivals. The car is able to hit 62 mph from the standing point in just 7.3 seconds. The time is reduced by 0.2 seconds thanks to the all-new eight-speed transmission system, that is said to be standard in the new Lexus LX.

The new engine replaced the old 6-speed automatic and we already see the improvement. The fuel consumption isn’t that impressive, however, as the car will be able to travel just 13 miles per gallon in the city and 18 mpg on the highway, making the combined mileage of 15 mpg. Lexus did improve the fuel consumption, compared to the models from the past few years, but it is still rather poor. The AWD option is standard, as well as the options such as hill start assistance, crawl control and driver-selectable multi-terrain system that will make the drive easier and more enjoyable. Towing capacity is set at around 7,000 pounds and the towing hitch is part of the standard bundle.

Exterior

On the outside, the fresh look does stand out. The more aggressive style, especially noticeable at the front, with large spindle grille and razor-sharp looking headlights, will feel vastly more appealing to the younger crowd. On the rear end, the model will feature a redesign as well.

The new set of tail lights and rear bumper fit quite nicely with the rest of the car. Headlights, tail lights, and fog lights feature full LED lamps. The new LX will also feature a brand new set of 20-inch, 10-spoke aluminum wheels, with a possibility for an upgrade to 21-inch wheels.

Interior and Features

The new 2016 Lexus LX will be offered in a single trim level, but with many options to upgrade standard features. The standard features themselves are pretty amazing and truly characterize the level of luxury of the new LX. The standard bundle will include and Infotainment system comprised of a 12.3-inch LCD display with navigation system, remote touch interface, voice controls and the Lexus Enform suite of services for smartphones, such as the Pandora, Slacker, Yelp, and iHeartRadio.

Other tech stuff will include Siri Eyes Free technology, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity, 9-speaker sound system, satellite radio, etc. Leather upholstery is, of course, mandatory, as well as wood trim elements and heated front seats, four-zone A/C system. The cabin is vastly spacious and since it is a full-size SUV, the new LX will be able to accommodate up to 8 passengers.
